Tonight we saw the movie Blue Like Jazz. I admit I have not read the book by Donald Miller but wow! What a great movie. It was thought provoking and real. It showed a real journey to making your faith your own. Claiming it despite what others think or feel about you. The sad truth is, we are all flawed and in need of a Savior. We make mistakes and we are forgiven. This is not your typical "Christian movie". There are cuss words and drinking and drugs and lesbians! It is real life and real faith.
Steve Taylor, screen writer and producer, put together an exciting drama that was both visually and audibly satisfying, even from the front row of the sold out theater! Based on Don Miller's autobiographical book, this movie deals with perceptions of Christianity and Jesus that are pervasive in our day and age. We are blessed to see how Don Miller, trying to escape God, is captured and by him and resolves to admit it!
I would recommend it to EVERYONE (16 and over) and bring a friend! Bring someone who doesn't know Jesus and then take them out afterward to start a conversation about Jesus! Let me know what you think! Have you read the book? How close is the book to the movie? I'd love to hear from you!
